Refinery29 hosted 29 Rooms in Bushwick, Brooklyn, during New York Fashion Week. This years theme is “Powered by People” where an 80,000 square-foot warehouse was converted into 29 different installations. Each installation was uniquely different and created by many well know artists and brands. The different rooms centered on themes of style, virtual reality, art, film, design, beauty, body positivity, identity and self-expression. The whole thing felt designed to inspire creativity and Instagram posts. My 3 year old absolutely loved it, just not the very long wait time to get inside, good thing they were passing out Perrier while we waited.
Here were our top rooms from the 2016 29 Rooms “Powered by People”
WIG OUT in collaboration with RuPaul, a whimsical hair salon in which guests can transform themselves with a selection of wigs curated by RuPaul.
Show Your Pride in collaboration with Kate Moross. Celebrate pride and #loveislove by posing for photos beneath this giant, glowing rainbow. lilStrange is holding a poster that says Live and Let Love, when we got home I gave her a rainbow of crayons to color her heart out all over the poster.
YOU-NIVERSE with Radiant Human. Transport to outer space inside this galactic installation. Enter the dome for an aura photo courtesy of Radiant Human. So I decided why not and had my aura portrait taken by Radiant Human. The different colors represent self to the left, persona on the right and consciousness on the top. Clearly red dominated with some purple along the top and left side. Lots of self-discovery can be found in just one photo.
PANDA-MONIUM with Nicola Formichetti’s Nicopanda. Relive the glory days of your youth by playing in this ball pit full of pandas!
