Thomas Jefferson wrote in a letter to his daughter, “Lake George is without comparison, the most beautiful water I ever saw.”
After spending the long weekend at Lake George I wholeheartedly agree with Jeffersons statement. Lake George, is a long, narrow lake located within the majestic Adirondack Mountains, in upstate New York. The lake has 395 islands scattered throughout crystal clear waters, where a majority of them are protected by the state.
Lake George, nicknamed the Queen of American Lakes, has been a popular North East tourist destination, resort center, and summer colony since the late 1800’s. The Sagamore hotel opened in 1883 and served an upscale clientele.
While staying at The Sagamore in upstate New York we took a scenic boat ride on The Morgan.
All Aboard! The Morgan is The Sagamore Resort’s 72-foot replica of a 19th-century touring vessel. All hotel guests are able to take a 90 minute unforgettable Lake George boat tour experience. To see some of the best views up close that the Adirondacks have to offer, plus the tranquil beauty of Lake George.
Enjoy the surrounding Adirondack Mountains as you sail in style across the lake’s clear waters and into the narrows. Our cruise aboard The Morgan was included in The Sagamore resort fee. H was so excited when he spotted The Morgan from our hike along the nature trail.
