yellowChair is a private social network that specializes in hosting intimate one-of-a kind dining experiences for food enthusiasts in New York City. Founded a year ago by Corey Sandlofer, the goal of Yellow Chair is to connect local foodies through exclusive dining events that take place at hip and trendy restaurants and hotels across the city.

I had the opportunity of attending the Celebrate Your Mom with Champagne and Eclairs event that took place at the swanky Park Hyatt Hotel, located across the street from Carnegie Hall and a stones throw away from Central Park. I received two tickets and was so excited to go, yet I had no one to accompany me. I was in a conundrum. Should I cancel and go when I had someone to go with me or brave it and go alone. With champagne and cake being served, I would make an exception and absolutely go.

Like most people, I tend to shy away from attending dinner parties alone because 9 out of 10 you’ll end up barely speaking to anyone and you’ll just count the minutes until a decent amount of time has passed when you can politely excuse yourself. That was not the case here.

The moment I sat down I knew this was something different. I was immediately welcomed by the women at the table and found myself surprised that I could be surround by strangers who I genuinely wanted to know more about, and who wanted to know more about me. We came from all walks of life and various backgrounds which made for organic easy going conversations. It felt great that I came alone.

Yellow Chair Champagne and Eclairs event

For this event Corey arranged for us to sample 6 different delectable eclairs that were perfectly paired with 3 different wines and champagnes. A few of the eclairs I sampled were lobster roll, pistachio, and chocolate fudge topped with edible gold flakes. Delicious! The entire afternoon was a great way for me to unwind from such a hectic morning and would continue to relax me through the evening way after I got home.

If you would like to experience yellowchair dining event for yourself they are hosting a East Meets West dinner on June 17 with more events to follow.

Thank you yellowchair for tickets, and for Valerie founder of Mommy R+R for covering this event for My Strange Family. It looked like a fabulous event.
