Trader Joe’s always has the best things. This Halloween season Trader Joe’s is selling the most adorable Haunted Gingerbread House kit. We made the Gingerbread Hexen House kit last year at Christmas and H loved it. The second I saw this Halloween one in the store, I had to buy it, for a rainy October afternoon activity for H and I, while the baby napped. Plus it was like $8! Well guess what, it rained today, so I broke out the Haunted Gingerbread House kit.
This gingerbread house kit includes everything you would need and more to put together a fun edible and decorative haunted house (you do not need to buy any additional ingredients). The gingerbread is pre-made and cut, with outlines indented in for the windows, doors and roof detail. The frosting is in easy to use squeezable pouches, and comes in orange (orange flavored) and black (chocolate flavored). A ginger cookie cat and ginger cookie pumpkin are included for spooky decorative detail. Plus an assortment of four different candies to decorate the haunted house, H’s favorite is the candy bones I especially liked snacking on the candied bats!
Making the haunted gingerbread house was a bit messy, the final product looks nothing like the box and the frosting is not the tastiest. But, we had tons of fun making it, and tasting along the way. Even if we don’t eat the gingerbread house, it is a perfect sessional decoration. Plus the price is so low you could buy one for each kid to decorate.
