Labor Day, a film by Jason Reitman (Up in the Air, Young Adult and Juno) staring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin will be in theater January, 31st 2014. I was given the opportunity to see the movie prior to its release date thanks to The MOMS, and Paramount Pictures. Here are my thoughts on the movie without giving to much away.

Labor Day is a tender, love story with a constant underlying tension. Kate Winslett gives a nuanced performance as a deeply troubled woman. Josh Brolin is perfect in his roll as the sensitive, escaped convict. Through flashbacks we learn of past incidences that help explain these characters as the story unfolds. I found myself both laughing and crying, never sure how the story would end. You won’t be disappointed with this touching movie.

Labor Day Movie PosterThis film has been rated PG-13 for thematic material, brief violence and sexuality. I was not compensated for this post and all opinions expressed here are my own.
