My Strange Family had a great Fourth of July! My mom left in the morning, after being here for over a month, so we wanted to keep H busy so he would not be sad missing her all day.

We had an amazing BBQ lunch at The Dutch, finished off with a lemon meringue pie (my favorite) and I finally can have a drink (mint julep) after 9+ long months.

After the BBQ we decided to walk up to Washington Square Park. H and I splashed around in the huge fountain.

Jazz music in Washington Square ParkWe have lived in NYC on and off since 2008 and this year was the first year we actually got to watch the fireworks. We let H stay up beyond his normal bedtime to watch the Macy’s Fireworks from our roof and he loved them (in the end).
