My mom and sister are both teachers and I see their struggles everyday with the bureaucracy and slow changing system that they are stuck in. They both want more control of their classrooms, they want to be efficient and to be creative again. But, the public school system is holding them back with multiple standards, tests and obsessing over accountability. The districts they work in resists change and competition between the teaches and schools and everything is based on seniority not achievements. Because of this the only people hurting are the kids.

Teachers become teachers because they want to see the students succeed they want the system to work and they are clearly not doing it for the money. However, when competition and efficiency is removed from any system school or business what is the motivation to do better?

My son will soon be entering the school system here in New York City and I still need to decided between Charter, Public and Private schools for him. As a parent I want to be completely informed on all the options available and know that every school is capable to succeed so my kid will succeed.

The new book Mission Possible by Eva Moskowitz and Arin Lavinia is about how the techniques used in the Success Academies Charter Schools founded by Eva Moskowitz can be used and adapted into any school. It is broken down into eight different chapters with corresponding video clips to help illustrate how this mission to succeed is possible.

This book is a very easy read and an eyeopener to motivate me to not settle for anything but the best for my son. Once you learn WHY? the American schools are the way they are you learn HOW? to improve a school and WHO? you need to do this. Bottom line it is all about the adults (Parents, Teachers, Principals, policymakers, tax-payers and concerned citizens)!

The Success Academy Charter Schools believe kids learn the best when they are taught FAST, taught with RIGOR (never lowering the expectations), know how to READ and love to READ at a young age, and be able to WRITE with elegance. Each of these topics goes into great detail in the Mission Possible book so you can help turn any school into a success.

If you would like to learn more about Mission Possible you can check out their website, or on Facebook or on twitter @MoskowitzEva. I also have a copy of this book to giveaway to one of my readers. Just leave a comment
