The Strange family spent two weeks in California at Christmas. Besides everyone getting the stomach flu we spent a few of the sun filled days at some of the best San Diego attractions.

Christmas Morning 2011

The day after Christmas the whole family went to the San Diego Zoo, though I think everyone in San Diego had the same idea and were also there! Baby H has been to the Central Park Zoo and to Zoolights at Point Defiance in Tacoma with my husband’s family, but those two zoos are nothing in comparison to the San Diego Zoo. We saw pandas, lions, gorillas, elephants, and a zebra & donkey who play together (my niece’s favorite). Giraffes were Baby H’s favorite, he calls them “Raffi” after his stuffed toy.

A few days after the zoo on a perfect day all the girls and Baby H had an afternoon lunch at Ruby’s located at the end of the Oceanside Pier. While waiting for our table we looked at the birds, fishermen and tons of dolphins! I could have sworn it was the middle of summer in December (you’ve got to love the Southern California weather)!

Our last adventure was Sea World San Diego. Sea World has changed so much from when I used to go 10 years ago, but I insisted on doing the traditional activities and avoiding all the new rides they are building. Baby H loved, I mean LOVED the Shamu Show! Check out this video of him shrieking with joy as the killer whales jump at the end of the show.

We also saw the new Dolphin Horizon show, Tide Pools, Shark Encounter, Turtle Reef and the Wild Arctic. I purchased an annual pass so we will be making many more trips to Sea World in 2012!

We had such a fun trip and created many memories with my family on our California Adventure.

What did your family do over the holidays?
